Schools that engage with our MTSS Data Academy can expect to see measurable improvements in student reading outcomes. By equipping teams with effective data protocols, structured meeting agendas, and ongoing coaching, educators are able to implement evidence-based practices and leaders are prepared to support them.

Outcomes reported by partner schools include increased reading proficiency rates, more efficient and effective data meetings, and a stronger culture of collaboration among educators. Our approach helps schools build sustainable systems that support all learners, including those who are multilingual or have historically been at greater risk for reading difficulties.

The calendar for the 2026-2027 school year is available now. Several participating schools cannot send all building leaders to each live session. We record each session and all are posted within our resource library.

The MTSS Data Academy is designed for school-level leaders. Participating schools usually send their Principal and other leaders who support grade-level teams or PLCs and those who support ongoing data use within an MTSS.

Some common participants include literacy coaches, school psychologists, grade-level team leads, PLC facilitators, and reading interventionists.

District leaders also attend for some school districts.

The MTSS Data Academy stands out by offering sustained, hands-on support that goes beyond one-time workshops. Participants receive facilitator training focused on leading effective MTSS team meetings, complete with ready-to-use agendas and data protocols. The Academy provides training, monthly drop-in data coaching, and access to a robust online resource library, available all year.

Unlike traditional trainings that may focus solely on individual student interventions, the Data Academy emphasizes a systems approach, empowering teams to use data for continuous improvement. Our coaching and resources are tailored to local needs, ensuring practical, actionable strategies that drive real results in reading and school-wide achievement.

The MTSS Data Academy was initially designed for elementary schools.

Several middle school teams also participate and find value and we include resources throughout sessions specifically designed for middle schools.

We strive to make the MTSS Data Academy affordable for schools of all sizes and needs related to MTSS.

Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a comprehensive framework designed to ensure that every student receives the instruction and support they need to thrive academically and behaviorally. At its core, MTSS is about prevention-providing high-quality, evidence-based instruction for all students and using data to identify those students, grade levels, and/or courses that may need additional help. By focusing on early action and system-wide improvement, MTSS helps schools move beyond “wait to fail” models and instead proactively address learning needs, especially in foundational skills like reading. The ultimate goal is to reduce the number of students who require intensive interventions by getting classroom instruction right the first time, ensuring strong outcomes for all learners.

The MTSS Data Academy is designed for schools using valid and reliable screening and/or progress monitoring tools. Initially developed with schools using FastBridge, the program now supports a broad range of tools. Participating schools use either Curriculum Based Measures (CBM) or Computer Adaptive Tests (CATs) for universal screening.

Some of our schools are new to progress monitoring, while others have been progress monitoring using CBM measures for several years.

We find that ongoing support is the best way to achieve school-wide reading growth. Our goal is to provide support that results in school-wide reading growth in one year and we have several schools that have achieved significant growth in that time.

Because of that, we don’t offer participation in single sessions of the MTSS Data Academy, but do allow for flexibility for anyone from your school to participate in any session. Therefore, you may have different team members participate in different sessions.

All sessions are recorded and materials and recordings are available in the resource library.
